{Lease signed} Live downtown with style in this spacious, true loft home. It comes as an unfurnished or semi-furnished 2753 sq. ft. (approx.) three bedroom, with real charm and authentic pre-war, loft details. The 15 oversized windows, with a north & east corner exposure, make it feel bright and airy. Generously proportioned rooms and high 13' barrel vaulted ceilings lend a dramatic effect, with plenty of room to entertain and live well. The master bath is custom designed, with natural stone, recessed lighting, oversized shower, tub, double basin sink, and Italian fixtures. The chief's kitchen features great counter space, with Italian made cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, Subzero refrigerator, Wolf gas range, microwave, and in-sink garbage disposal. This home features central air, in unit washer/dryer, great closet space, plus a large storage room. The building has just two apartments per floor, a 24 hr doorman, concierge, large gym, and a great roof deck with sweeping views of the Manhattan. This is probably the best location in Manhattan for transportation, near the new Fulton Center transit hub. You can be anywhere in town fast. Enjoy great dining in the Financial District and Tribeca. 130 Fulton Street is a historic Renaissance Revival building dating back to 1893, designed by the architectural firm of De Lemos & Cordes, reimagined as a boutique condominium by Koeppel Companies and Architect Elliot Vilkas in 2005. Great choice for a corporate relocation, or anyone looking for a large home in the heart of downtown.

Sad news that Macy’s Brooklyn on Fulton Street is closing. The original location of Abraham and Strauss. It is a building with a storied past. Part of a 30% reduction in the retail footprint of the Macy’s chain, which recently rejected a $6.9 billion buyout offer. It was reportedly sold at the fire sale price of $23 million dollars to a group of investors, with Thor equities recently buying a position according to the New York Post. Truly the end of an era in the shaping of Downtown Brooklyn.

I’ve been obsessed with the design of the BKF #Hardoy “butterfly” chair since seeing one of the originals at #MoMA recently in the “Crafting Modernity, Design in Latin America, 1940–1980” show. Obviously one of the most copied chairs of the modern era. Only three of the original chairs from Argentina are known to exist, the one at MoMA, one at Frank Lloyd Wright’s #Fallingwater house in PA, and a third one that seems to have gone missing somewhere. Just about all of the others you’ve seen are copies, some authorized by #Knoll and hundreds of thousands of others of various quality that are still sold today. Most of them are bad imitations with weird proportions and folding frames. Notably, a saddle leather sling, and a solid, welded iron frame are signs of a good vintage one. I was shocked and thrilled to suddenly see this chair pop up on Facebook marketplace. I immediately recognized it as a high-quality antique and promptly grabbed it! Purchased by the seller at a Greenpoint thrift shop years back, he had in storage for a while. I was able to rehydrate, clean, and restore the leather back to a very respectable finish, but basically left it untouched except for one structural repair to the stitching that was needed. It’s got a lovely patina. After a few weeks, restoring it and oiling the frame. It now stands proudly in my living room. Probably one of the best pieces I own! It’s really hard to place an exact age on this, but I’m guessing it’s probably from the 1940s or 50s, curious if any of my fellow design geeks might know how to place an age on it more exactly. Not that I’ll ever sell it, I intend on continuing to slouch in it forever 😉

Honestly sweetheart, I was trying to pour you a heart. #lapavoni #latte #espresso
Have you tried #NatesPizza on the #CobbleHill #BrooklynHeights borderline? Unusually suspicious of Detroit, Chicago, or Hawaiian pizza, but I recommend this one!
